Magnesium-L-Threonate (Mag-T) is the only magnesium known to easily cross the blood-brain barrier. Brain tissue burns more energy than any other bodily tissue, and magnesium is key to energy production. This is one of the reason why low brain magnesium leads to forgetfulness, depression, anxiety and even epileptic seizures. While ordinary magnesium supplements are able to supply the rest of the body, it takes a long time for these supplements to have an effect on the brain. Often, it may be necessary to take high doses of magnesium before it reaches the brain.
